How far does IAS see?
IAS is generally configured to see roughly 10m, but it depends on the object and visibility.
Small objects, such as traffic cones, may be seen out to 10m; large objects, such as heavy vehicles, can potentially be seen hundreds of metres away.
Objects that are partially occluded and environmental conditions such as darkness and fog also impact detection distance.
Can IAS see in the dark/dust/light?
IAS is a vision-based system and must be able to see at least part of the object. Darkness and dust reduce the detection distance. Bright lights can also reduce detection distance. Bright and dark together are the biggest challenge for vision systems because the optics do not know whether to try and focus on the dark (making the light area white) or light (making the dark area black) area.
What objects can IAS detect?
IAS can detect people, vehicles, and traffic cones/bollards. Users can choose to select only certain objects at a time.
How quickly does IAS alert?
IAS detects and alerts in under 200ms.
How does IAS differentiate a near-miss?
IAS has warning zones and critical zones.
Warning zones The areas that will generate alerts if the select object, such as people, enters. The warning zone distance depends on the vehicle and operations but is typically out to 6-10m.
Critical zones Critical zones are the high-risk zones near the vehicle, and will tag any detection as a critical alert. These are also known a near-miss. The critical zone distance depends on the vehicle and operations but is typically out to 2-3m.
How often is IAS AI updated?
IAS AI is automatically updated regularly. Updates are released roughly fortnightly. AI updates are automatically downloaded and installed without any operator input.
