Required vehicle interfaces
IAS only requires power and alert trigger from the vehicle.
IAS is powered from the vehicle battery. IAS is generally wired after the vehicle isolation switch, so that it turns on/off automatically with the vehicle.
The alert trigger is typically reverse, hydraulic lock, in-gear, or similar trigger that determines whether the vehicle is ‘safe’ or ‘unsafe’. The alert trigger is a physical cable from the trigger to the processor.
Installation time
IAS installation time depends on several factors, including installer experience, the vehicle type and size, its location, the number of cameras, power, and the alert trigger.
Indicative installation times for small vehicles is 6-12 hours and large vehicles is 10-16 hours.
The following installation activities are generally the key factors in installation time.
Where to place components. Every vehicle is covered in lights, fire extinguishers, ROPs, etc., and has multiple technology solutions installed in electrical areas and in cabs. Finding a location for IAS components can be challenging.
Wiring power from the vehicle battery to the Processor location.
Installing the alert trigger.
Running cables through conduit.
